Insurance surveys are often required every five years to assess the condition of the vessel in terms of the risk it proposes. My view is that they want to know the vessel is structurally sound, maintained and there is a suitable level of safety systems in place.
Recommendations pertaining to the structure and safety of the vessel will be rectified within the designated timescale.
Although the insurance survey may not have been requested by you, my clients have always found it beneficial. The survey is a detailed look at the vessel which can identify potential issues when they are simple to rectify.
Basically, I will share all my experience and knowledge to making your time on the water as enjoyable and safe as possible.
A survey is a normally a full day on board, clients are welcome to attend but might get roped into emptying a locker or two. Ideally, being there at the end of the day can be advantageous as it means any issues can be gone through.
