Fruit and Fresh Produce
In the case of fruit and fresh foods, there may be struck, contaminated or the ripening process has started due to a defective refrigeration unit.
In either case, the damage needs to be assessed, impacted pallets identified and then sampling in order to estimate the damage. Investigations can be made to the cause and data such as container temperature records assessed.
General Cargo
With so much of the worlds products transported by sea, despite it usually being well packed and stacked they can be damage. For instance, containers are occasionally dropped or the container is damaged resulting in water ingress. In either case, the container may need to be unloaded and inspected.
